Our janitor just installed a brand new Promethean board in my classroom! I'm so excited. A new kiln last month, and a Promethean board this month....what other great things does this school have in store for me? (This picture doesn't do it justice....it's a bright new white, not a muddy shade of yellow.)
WoOOOOooHOOOooooo!! You are gonna love that thing!!! I have one and it has changed the way I teach like you wouldn't believe! I have a document camera too and I don't know how I ever lived without it. Can't wait to see the projects you do with your board! Congratulations and have fun with it!

ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a Promethean board. Is it the same as a Smart Board that you can use like a gigantic computer screen?

I've heard it's better than a Smart Board, but I've actually never used a Smart Board. You have a pen you can draw on it with, and you can select how wide you want the tip or what color you want. I'm really excited! The music teacher at my school, whose classroom is next to mine, got one too, and we are going to figure them out together :).
DeleteI got an Elmo (doc camera) this year and I like it but still getting out the kinks. I was trying to use it when reading a book with a larger class but the images pick up a glare and therefore don't project effectively.

I don't have an Elmo, but I would love to use one! I didn't realize glossy pages could be a problem, though....but it makes sense since the same thing happens when you take a photograph of a glossy page. I recently read part of a Dr. Seuss book to my kindergartners (the pages are not glossy), and I just snapped a picture of each page with my camera, and then made a power point. It worked really well!
