Valentine's Day Fun

I like holidays at school because it gives me a chance to do a special project with classes that are ahead, so other classes can catch up. This week, the younger classes that were ahead did watercolor resist heart paintings:

The older students (4th through 6th) wove Danish heart baskets. The students who didn't get frustrated really enjoyed it! There was only one class that didn't understand the concept and had frustration-related behavior problems. All the other classes really enjoyed it, and kept trying to make harder ones with even more strips! The tricky part in these is weaving outside-inside-outside-inside instead of over-under-over-under. Some students even asked for the paper dimension so they could make more at home!
